[Part 1] Introduction to Financial Risk Analytics

Machine learning, data science and business analytics are often used together in business environments. This might lead to overlapping task areas, but the responsibilities pertaining to each of these roles are quite distinct from each other.

In this lecture, Dr. R.L. Shankar gives his perspective on the difference between business analytics, data science and machine learning. The lecture also provides an introduction to descriptive analysis, Inferential models, predictive models and causal models with examples from credit card customer data.

D. RL Shankar is an adjunct Professor of Finance and Analytics at Great Lakes Institute of Management. He offers Masters and Doctoral courses on Risk management, Financial derivatives, Algorithmic Trading, Fixed income and credit markets, Financial Risk Analytics, Financial engineering, Financial modeling etc. He is also a visiting faculty at IIMs such as IIM Kozhikode, IIM Trichy, and IIM Ranchi. Shankar has rich experience in customized programs for working executives. He has designed and delivered programs for Bank of America, Genpact, Barclays, Standard Chartered Scope International (India and China), World Bank, ICICI Bank (Treasury), Reserve Bank of India, Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company Limited, Sundaram Fasteners etc.
