Analytics is not just about statistical models but also about understanding the task at hand and be able to think of a solution.

What made you opt for this Analytics program?

I always aspired to move into a career where data is crucial and Business Analytics play an eminent role. Hence, making a move into Analytics domain was my only objective, but before doing that I was keen to learn more about this domain.

Why did you choose PGP-BABI at Great Lakes?

Enrolling for Great Lakes PGPBA was not just any random decision. Before joining, I did go an extra mile and researched well about all analytics courses offered by different institutes in India. Comparing the course content and visiting the shortlisted institutes in person was one part of my research. And finally chose Great Lakes Analytics program for reasons like: Great Lakes Brand Value, Guest lectures from Industry Experts from various domains in Analytics as a part of the course content, Capstone project, and SAS & R coverage to mention a few.

Please describe your experience at Great Lakes

Studying Analytics with Great Lakes was an immensely rewarding experience. Initially, I used to think that learning all theoretical concepts and methodologies would be sufficient enough to start working, but Industry exposure during the course changed my viewpoint where mentors from the industry took us through real time scenario of the industry. In addition, working on my capstone project entitled as Lead Generation for Health Insurance Firms, I worked on real time unstructured data from social media and had used my analytical skills as learnt in Great Lakes and as mentored by our mentor Mr. Manu Chandra, to generate list of qualified leads which would improve the dollar value for insurance companies.

What advice you would give others?

And today my learning says Analytics is not limited to any single domain. With rise in the amount of data on internet, for any business to flourish and succeed data analytics is a must. Analytics is not just about statistical models but about understanding the task in hand and be able to think of a solution. Rest all falls into place. If someone keeps a problem solving approach, he/she is destined to succeed in this career.
